Today was another relaxing day with the fam. My brother Josh and I went for an 8 mile loop run early this morning and it was beautiful. Speaking of beautiful.. look at my mom. beautiful inside and out... and.. will be turning 59 this year. We have the same birthday.
I hope I look like her when I'm 59.We've been doing a little painting and listening to this fun music...

Ahhh IdaHO.....

I came up to visit my family for a couple of weeks. In the mountains, small town, farmers market, fresh pies, long walks, alone time with the fam, quiet, slow.. nice. My dad had surgery a couple of weeks ago and won't be able to walk for a few months so it was perfect timing to come up and have some chill time with him. My parents live in a tiny one room cabin on the water that is absolutely beautiful, so magical. This is only my second day here and it's been so great.. long runs on dirt roads, some baking, sewing, furniture refinishing with mom.. great. Vito gets here Saturday and I can't wait to see him. He's been camping in the woods since Monday and won't be near a phone until Friday. I'm excited for him to be here, and see how beautiful it is here in the summer. It's been really cool and rainy here but it's supposed to warm up the next few days. I'm anxious to take a dip in the water once it gets warmer outside...

For the last few months I've been working on opening a new etsy shop where I sell my hand screen printed baby clothes and housewares.My friend AnneMarie has been getting them into quite a few stores around town, so I've been printing like a wild woman. I've screen printed more in the last two months than I EVER have, it's been really fun. Ordering onesies, bibs, mugs and glasses in bulk... it's been quite the adventure!So go check out my shop!

Sorry for the long delay.. I've been busy enjoying my summer. Here's a week recap in photos! My friend Jess had a little boutique sale at her house for some of her artist friends. When I wasn't selling prints I was taking photos of her really cute house. We had a good turnout for the sale and I met a few really talented artists.

And.. while this boy was off camping for 5 days in the wilderness, I did a little camping myself. My friend Brian has a little cabin in the woods so six of us crammed into this cute little A-frame for three days last week.It was really beautiful. We spent the days fishing, playing horseshoes, Frisbee golfing and relaaaaaxing.Lots of food, and fish!The weather couldn't have been any better. We were up above 9,000 ft so while it was 90 degrees in Denver it was only 80 degrees up there.

And as for this weekend, I'm spending it with this guy. love him.

I picked up these super cute tiny vases from Target last week and I'm loving them more and more each time I use them. They are perfect for small clippings from the garden. I don't have enough flowers to make a large arrangement but clustering these little vases together looks awesome. And... I have red hair! Vito came home from work and said, "...is that a wig??..." nope.

Hope your week is going well... I've got some cleaning and weed pulling to do this afternoon. It's been nice and cool the last few days, perfect weather for working outside.

Well it's already happening.. my days are starting to blurrr together. Being on summer vacation makes everyday feel like a Saturday. I made-up a little desert last night to take to a friends for dinner. This is the first thing I've baked in months ...and actually.... it's not baked so it probably doesn't count. ... but it was yummy.
I saw my first tornado! We had a decent sized tornado touch down here in Denver and it was quite the sight. We took Cassius to the dog park and before we could get back to the car we saw a tornado dropping out of the sky. We were sprinting in flip flops (probably 1/2 mile) as fast as we could back to the car. We took cover under a bridge and watched golf ball sized hail pound the pavement. Isn't it huge?!

The MaraThON!*

We got home yesterday afternoon, we had such an amazing trip. My marathon was on Sunday morning in San Diego and the weather was perfect, cloudy and cool. I ran really well and took 15 minutes off of my time. 3:50.32.

I think running at sea-level was the ticket. It was a really great run.I was super sore and was walking like an old lady for a good 4 days after the run. :) but now I feel great.

We did so much in just a few days, it felt like we were gone for ages. We took a little boat trip.It was really beautiful.
We spent an afternoon at the beach, went wine tasting, took a long anniversary motorcycle ride.Celebrated our 3 year anniversary (that we almost forgot about) oopsie.Watched plenty of sunsets.Warmed by the fire and spent amazing time with friends.

Heidi Klum called me yesterday afternoon....and told me that I'm the big winner! yip yip!!

I was so excited! So apparently my back plate design will be sold in all of the stores that sell the LG Rumor 2 cellphone. eek!

When the little reality show is available for viewing I will definitely let you know. I can't wait to watch it. We are headed off to California this weekend for my marathon so I get to see a little preview of the show while I'm out there.

Summer!

My Summer break has officially started! yea! We've been working in the yard a lot on the weekends. We planted the garden a couple weeks ago and things are already starting to pop up here and there. I'll show you some pics once things start growing a bit more. Things are really starting to green up and the days haven't been too hot so it's been the perfect temp to work outside. But inside...my husband (who has more hobbies than I do) is mastering cheese making. This mozzarella only took him about 30 minutes and it was amazing. He also spent ALL DAY Sunday making Gouda that will age for a good 6 months in the basement. And other hobbies... he's now using oak barrels for his wine. I think he's got a whopping 250 bottles of wine aging in the basement. So.. we'll be having a lot of wine and cheese parties at our house this summer.My friend AnneMarie and I enjoyed the fruits of his labor..

In other NeWS...
I should get a call from HeiDi this afternoon if I'm the big back plate winner. I will keep you posted! I'm really excited.

Wow. Thank you ALL so much for you encouragement, I really enjoyed reading all of your comments. My trip was amazing and unfortunately I only took 4 pictures the entire trip. It was so busy. Friday morning a driver picked me up at 7.30 am (with coffee just the way I like it) and I didn't get back to the hotel until 11.30 that night. This hotel was amazing, really beautiful.Both days were so long... but it was so fun. This was the first picture I snapped around midnight my first night there after a full day of shooting. On Friday the other 3 designers and I were filmed "getting inspired" for our back plate at different locations around orange county. Massive film crews, camera men, sound men, light dudes, hair and make-up cute girl (below), so many people. This cute girl was putting makeup on my face every 15 seconds, this shiny spot, that shiny spot. It was ridiculous. Saturday was another ridiculously long day of filming us "in the studio" designing our plates and presenting them to Heidi. It was wild, I was waited on hand and foot, "would you like some water, coffee, a sandwich, are you cold??"

I should know within a couple of weeks which plate Heidi chooses as her fav. I can't show you my design until then but I think it's really cute. I met so many amazing people and learned so much. As soon as the show is available for viewing I will definitely post a link. I can't wait to see it...

I spent all Sunday with these two favorite people. Ali and I went for a great run Sunday morning, we enjoyed a yummy lunch together and I flew home (after missing my first flight) Sunday night.
I was so happy to be home, it felt like I was gone for ages. Thanks so much for being so sweet, I had such a great time. xo

Last week I submitted a video audition to be on Heidi Klum's design team. Apparently she is working with LG to create interchangeable back plates for the new LG Rumor 2 cellphone. I took Monday off of work to make and submit a little video of myself talking about my artwork, style, inspiration, etc. Well... I got a call yesterday that I am one of the final 4 chosen to be on her design team. eeeeek! So.. they are flying me out to LA this Thursday (yes, in 2 days) and I will spend the weekend designing my own back plate. Apparently it's her own little reality design show. If if if she ends up choosing my design, it will be mass produced in all of the stores. Can you believe this!!!??!?!? I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. So.. I've been drawing away. I will be presenting my back plate design to her this Saturday. oh my. My other little "big adventure" surprise is on the back burner for a couple of weeks, things are a little crazy here!

Aside from all this crazy greatness I've been wrapping up the school year, I only have 5 days left. Oh, have any of you read this book? My book club is reading it... it's amazing.

We met Joe and Christi last night to eat wings and watch the Nuggets game. The nuggets killed New Orleans, ahh it was fun to watch. It's always fun win "your" team wins. Hopefully they will make it to the second round and we can catch a home playoff game. They are so cute.

Saturday was beautiful.. took the dog to the park, played in the grass, worked around the house. ..I even woke up to coffee in bed. V ran out before I woke up and brought me yummy coffee and a pumpkin bread. yum. On Sunday I ran 17 miles (got sunburned on the back of my legs and arms) and spent the rest of the day being lazy.

But this morning... I had to bundle up because it looked like this when I stepped outside.We ALMOST planted the garden on Saturday.. I'm glad we didn't. Brrrr! I'm ready for Spring.

I feel really busy... hopefully things will be slowing down soon. I'm looking forward to a restful weekend. I'm getting a facial on Saturday, I haven't had one in almost 3 years. eek.

And.. I joined a book club that will be starting this Sunday, yay! I'm really looking forward to that.

It snowed like crazy at our house this weekend. Vito took these pics outside Friday night with the tripod and I didn't even mess with the color, these are straight out of the camera. So pretty, the lighting is so interesting. It was such a beautiful night.I spent all weekend inside and printed lots and lots dreamy things I can't wait to share. soon soon.We were also very very busy watching Clarence and Bernice take care of their new babies! That's right.. Bernice laid 5 eggs a couple of weeks ago and now she has 4 little inch long hairless birdies to feed. They are so tiny. We spent a lot of time peeking into the nest. I think Vito might take a couple to his office... anyone else need a finch or two??

It's been a busy week here in art teacher land. I've spent every spare minute getting ready and hanging our end of the year art show. I'm so happy it's Thursday.. the weekend is in sight. I sent another screen off to indyink yesterday so I'm hoping to be printing again all weekend. I've been doing some fun things, can't wait to share! almost finished.

MattY came down from Ft. Collins for the weekend with his friends to celebrate his birthday! The house was full of boys ALL weekend. 6 actually. 7 if you count the dog.He wanted V to cook.
And V cooked a lot. Dinner... Breakfast.. Lunch.. I don't think the table got completely cleared from one meal to the next. We couldn't keep up. What a savage.And Easter... we went to V's parents for dinner.
It was nice. I made cannoli for the first time and it was really good. Even made the shells! (with help.)And last night, V took me to the Nuggets game! I think it was one of the best games I've ever been to.
...not just because of the game...
but because it was DOLLAR hot dog night. Yes! I love hot dogs. And, at one point while I was double fisting hot dogs with my face covered in ketchup we were on the KISS CAM! I've always wanted to be on the kiss cam... it was my night~! so fun.

I had my little art night last night at my school and had a terrific turnout. I'm thinking over 230 people came, it was great. Everyone got a big chunk of clay and had at it.Now my classroom is FULL of all this clay and I will probably be firing until the last day of school. My hands this morning looked like a 90 yr old woman, all dry and cracked. I think it's time for a weekend manicure...!Also, I wanted to show off these really great still life drawings some 2nd graders did. I secretly wanted them to give them to me instead of taking them home...
They used paint, chalk pastels, oil pastels and I LOVE them.

I have a big 'family art night' tonight at my school. Parents bring their kids to the school and everyone makes a clay masterpiece. I had about 100 people come last year. This year, over 200 have rsvp'd. So... I should have some fun pics soon soon. It should be a fun time!
